Ancient city, a spacious historical theme park in neighborhood of Bangkok, is a good option for day excursion. Ancient City features replicas of famous monuments and architectural attractions all across Thailand. Ancient City covers 320 acres of land and has attained fame as the world’s largest outdoor museum. Due to its large space, the Ancient City is rarely crowded.
Ancient City Exhibits
The huge complex of Ancient City hosts an array of important buildings. Most well-known among these is Khao Pra Viharn, a replica of a temple atop a hill on Cambodian border. A reconstructed throne hall from Ayutthaya also attracts visitors’ attention. The hall was sacked 200 years ago when Ayutthaya was attacked by the Burmese. The complex also hosts several examples of conventional Thai houses. There is a wooden temple brought from northern Thailand.
Ancient City Museum has several good examples of typical traditional Thai houses. A typical Thai house consists of several single rooms around an elevated platform. The Ancient City is continuously expanding, bringing in more and more structures within it. It currently displays more than 100 replicas.
Touring the Park
Walking the entire park in a day would be a tough nut to crack for most people. However, one can hire a bicycle to move around the park. The rental is included in the admission fee. A mini-rail service complete with a guide is also available. However, the instructions given are Thai.
Reaching Ancient City
The museum complex is located on the Old Sukhumvit Road. For a fine journey, hire a car from Bangkok and enjoy your journey. An admission fee is charged for entering the Ancient City.
Food in Ancient City
You can enjoy food in Thai floating village of Ancient City. The village has a slew of restaurants, serving basically Thai food. You can also have snacks here.
